Meet our fundraiser of the month!

This autumn, superstar fundraiser Peppe Esposito took part in Chester Metric Marathon for MS-UK. As well as conquering the race Peppe went the extra mile by organising a Drink for Charity event at his local pub too!

Peppe has raised a phenomenal £2,500 for MS-UK! It is our pleasure to announce Peppe as our fundraiser of the month for December 2023.

 Read Peppe’s story below on why he chose to fundraise to help support those living with multiple sclerosis (MS).

I chose to run The Chester Metric Marathon purely as a step up from running a half marathon but to also set myself my own personal challenge.

A good friend of ours lost his wife who lived with MS, so we decided to run for MS-UK. Taking on the challenge felt great because my preparation was well organised.

Last year I ran two half marathons (13.1 miles each) and on Sunday 08 October 2023 I took part in Chester, completing the 26.2 km (almost 17 mile) course with Paul.

As well as fundraising for the marathon, I came up with the idea of a Drink for Charity event. I work in a beer bottling plant for small and large independent microbreweries. I spoke to a few of the breweries and the landlord of my local pub. He too has a personal connection to MS-UK through a close family member.

My idea had a fantastic reaction! We set a date for the event, and I then contacted local businesses for donations. Overall, I generated 35 prizes for a raffle to run at the same time as our Drink for Charity weekend. I also received generous donations of free barrels of beer! My local landlord offered to sell the donated beer at £3 a pint with 100% of the proceeds from the sales to go straight to MS-UK.

All four barrels donated (280 pints) sold out in two nights. The bar staff along with friends and my wife got fully involved in to help raise funds and awareness.

I would say to anyone to go and set yourself your own goal or personal challenge to achieve.

Talk to and tell people about what you want to do and 99.9% of the time they will want to help and or donate. Be passionate and committed and you’ll achieve!
