MS-UK Diagnosis Choices Review

Diagnosis Choices review

Just under 7000 people per annum are diagnosed with MS in the UK, with many more being investigated for this condition. For some, the diagnosis process can be elongated and as such become a prolonged period of anxiety, with the ‘not knowing’ as to what is causing their symptoms being a common source.

It is therefore important that people are aware of the process which clinicians must follow to diagnose MS, including the tests that are used to aid diagnosis and why it can take a while to be concluded.

The recently revised Choices booklet ‘Diagnosis’ provides an easy to digest summary of everything you need to know about the MS diagnosis process. Inside we look at a range of connected issues including a summary of the initial medical tests that may be conducted prior to a referral to a neurologist, the tests that a neurologist will likely ask you to undergo and the criteria that neurologists follow to formulate a clear MS diagnosis.

As per usual with our Choices booklets, we also provide signposting to reliable sources from which you can gauge further information, such as where to find support during the diagnosis process, post diagnosis support and keeping a symptom diary.

This booklet is designed to be an easily digestible companion for people who are embarking on their diagnosis journey.

You can view ‘Choices – Diagnosis’ now on our website, with hard copies also available free of charge on request.
