Smoking and MS

There’s evidence that shows smoking is a risk factor that contributes to disability progression in MS. Smoking is also associated with a reduction in brain volume, and can lead to a higher relapse rate and cognitive problems. If you have multiple sclerosis (MS) and are a smoker you may wish to read our Choices booklet on Smoking and MS. This booklet gives useful information about the risks and signposts to resources and support for stopping smoking.
