Why does your team need this session?

Did you know that MS is the most common disabling neurological condition in young adults? It is estimated that there are over 130,000 people in the UK who have MS. it is estimated that approximately 55,000 people with MS need social care support.

MS-UK know that care workers are often the professionals that people needing support have most contact with. We want to help raise awareness of MS within your teams.

As well as having potential to impact on mobility, coordination, strength and muscle stiffness, MS symptoms are often ‘invisible’ and can impact on aspects of daily living, meaningful activities, and overall wellbeing. Nearly three quarters of respondents to a 2018 MS-UK survey told us that they have experienced issues relating to loneliness and isolation. People living with MS also have higher rates of anxiety and depression than the general population.

Combine all these social, physical, and mental health factors and it highlights why people with MS may need support from care and support services.

Who is this session for?

The session is open to care and support professionals (or volunteers) who may be supporting people with multiple sclerosis. This could be:

  • Domiciliary/home care workers

Please share with any colleagues who you think may benefit.
