Our online sessions are free to join. Donations are welcome, and the suggested contribution for this session is £7.

We are joined by Shaun Barton from MS-UK’s Helpline Team, who will explore how to recognise and build awareness of cognitive issues in MS, both for yourself and for others living with the condition. He will highlight key signs and symptoms to look out for, what they may mean in everyday life, and when it may be helpful to seek further support. Shaun will also share practical tips on what to be aware of, helping participants better understand and spot changes in cognition with MS.

We then welcome guest speaker Jeffrey Gingold, acclaimed author, who will share his personal experience of the often “invisible” cognitive aspects of MS.

Drawing on his own journey, Jeffrey will focus on practical, real-world approaches to managing these challenges. He will explore common cognitive symptoms such as memory lapses, reduced concentration, and mental fatigue, and how these can affect daily life. Through relatable examples, he’ll introduce simple but effective techniques to support organisation, improve focus, and reduce overwhelm.

Jeffrey will also share his top five “cognitive sharpening” strategies, offering practical tools that participants can apply in everyday life. The session will conclude with a question-and-answer opportunity, giving attendees the chance to put their questions directly to Jeffrey and gain further insight and tailored advice based on their experiences.

MS-UK’s Cognition Choices booklet provides a comprehensive overview of cognition, including its causes, common symptoms, available professional support, and practical self-management strategies.
