Following our masterclass on balance in March we will be offering a different approach to improving and understanding balance using the approach of Pilates.
In this practical workshop we will get you thinking differently about balance and to help you walk more confidently. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) specialist Pilates teacher, Amanda Kemp will be exploring how balance training is so much more than standing on one leg, instead giving you effective methods to apply to all your workouts and daily activities.
The workshop will explore how sensory information from various sources impacts movement and how training the visual system can help to improve balance. Amanda will help you unlock the visual system which is one of the body’s main mechanisms that provide good balance, to get the best of this sensory input.
The session will include going through seated, standing and lying down movements, in particular exploring how to better use your eyes during exercise practice and daily tasks that will provide better balance for you.
This session is free to join if you have a monthly or yearly subscription. You do not need a subscription to join, as you can register and provide a donation for the class. The suggested amount for the class is £5. If you are unable to make a donation, please contact us to see how you can access the online classes (register@ms-uk.org).
A recording will be made available after the class and can be viewed if you have purchased a ticket either before or after the class has taken place.
If you have purchased a ticket to join the class live, a blue button saying ‘Join class’ will appear at the bottom of the page 15 minutes before the class is due to start.
Shortly after the class has finished, the recording will be made available and a blue button will be visible at the bottom of the screen for everyone who purchases a ticket either in advance of the live class are after it has been held

I’ve been teaching Pilates since 2005 and practising it a long time before. I love how it enables you to create freer movement and get out of pain. It works the whole body from the inside out to create a lengthened body, stabilise joints and maintain balance, strength and flexibility.
I’m an experienced teacher, having worked with lots of different people. Pilates is perfect for recovering from injury or managing and improving long-term conditions.
I’m particularly experienced in working with clients with neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s and stroke. I also work with clients with arthritis, osteoporosis, hyper-mobility, scoliosis, slipped discs and more. As a mum of four children, I know how Pilates can be invaluable in supporting you mentally and physically.
I teach small group classes in person and via Zoom from my studio in the East Sussex countryside. To find out more, please visit my website www.kemppilates.com.
