Try this new tool to help you find the right treatment for your multiple sclerosis

A new tool to help multiple sclerosis (MS) patients choose the best treatment for them. There are currently 18 approved disease-modifying therapies available on the NHS in the UK, and a group of specialists at Barts Health in London has developed an online tool to help remove the uncertainty when choosing a treatment.

Currently in beta, the tool features a list of questions around your priorities as a patient – for example, do you mind whether the drug is taken as an infusion, an injection, or a pill? And would it bother you to have to make regular visits to a hospital for tests?

There are eight questions about your lifestyle and heath needs, and you rate each on a scale of not important to very important.

Barts Health neurologist Ide Smith said the goal of the tool is to empower people with MS by providing a way to rationally pick a treatment, where they may have only been offered the option of two or three drugs by their MS team.

You can try out the new tool here. Simply select which DMT has been offered to you, and then answer the questions.
