RideLondon placed on ‘indefinite pause’

RideLondon, one of the world’s largest mass participation cycling events, has been placed on an ‘indefinite pause’ following operational and financial reviews, organisers have confirmed.

The event was launched in 2013 as part of the legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Since then, around 500,000 people have taken part, raising more than £85 million for charities across the UK.

Is RideLondon cancelled?

London Marathon Events, which organises RideLondon, said the festival will not return in its current format. However, they highlighted the lasting impact of the event, both in inspiring people to take up cycling and in the significant funds raised for good causes.

While this news may be disappointing for many who love going for a spin for a good cause, why not consider grabbing a place in L’Étape du Tour de France? This event really is the adventure of a lifetime! Join MS-UK and experience the unique thrill of the Tour de France by riding Stage 20 of the 2026 Tour de France, connecting Le Bourg-d’Oisans to Alpe d’Huez.

Find out more here about taking place in this race on Sunday 19 July 2026.

About RideLondon

The most recent and tenth edition of RideLondon took place in May 2024.

Originally delivered in partnership with Surrey County Council, the event ran annually until 2019. It paused in 2020 and 2021 during the Covid pandemic before returning in 2022 in partnership with Essex County Council.

Organisers have said that future work will focus on widening access to cycling and supporting active travel in London and beyond.

For many charities, including MS-UK, RideLondon has provided a powerful opportunity for supporters to ride for a cause, raise awareness, and bring communities together. While this chapter has paused, the impact created by those who took part will continue.
