Impact of fatigue on wellbeing in MSPublished: 26 March 2025 A recent study has found that fatigue can have a big impact on the emotional and physical wellbeing of people living with multiple sclerosis (MS). The research highlights that feeling tired all the time isn’t just about low energy – it’s closely linked to how people feel about their overall quality of life. The study looked at data from more than 1,000 people with MS. Researchers found that fatigue had the strongest connection to lower emotional and physical well-being, more than any other symptom they looked at, including pain or mobility difficulties. Fatigue in MS is often described as an overwhelming sense of tiredness that doesn’t go away with rest. It’s one of the most common and challenging symptoms people face, and it can affect everything from mood and memory to relationships and daily routines. The researchers hope this study encourages healthcare professionals to take fatigue seriously and support people living with MS to find ways to manage it. This might include lifestyle changes, therapy, or other approaches tailored to the person. If you live with MS and fatigue is getting in the way of everyday life, you’re not alone – and there is support available. At MS-UK, we have a free Choices booklet all about fatigue, and our friendly Helpline team can talk things through with you by phone, email or web chat. Other Stories You May Be Interested In...
