In response to requests from the MS community, we created the Women’s Peer Pod, recognising the need for a dedicated space where sensitive topics could be openly discussed among women living with MS.
This Peer Pod provides a secure and empathetic environment for women to connect, fostering candid conversations about any aspect of their lives (whether MS related or not).
Since its development, the Women’s Peer Pod has proven to be an invaluable source of support, significantly impacting how its members navigate the challenges of MS in their daily lives.
With two sessions every week, there’s even more choice to connect at a time that suits you best.
If you are interested in joining this or any of our Peer Pods, or would like more information, please fill in our enquiry form by clicking the button. Vicky, our Peer Support Coordinator will be in touch with you shortly.
‘Hi there, my name is Lisa and I was diagnosed with MS when I was 23. I worked as a primary school teacher and special needs co-ordinator until 2018, when I took medical retirement.
I have an amazing husband and a beautiful dog, and my favourite hobby is exploring new places to ‘walk’. My version of walking means using my mobility scooter, and I love the fact that it allows me to get out in the fresh air.
I like to look for the funny side of things wherever I can. It has taken me a long time to learn to live with my MS. MS-UK has helped me no end through exercise classes, workshops and of course Peer Pods. It is so helpful to have the support of these groups. Nobody should feel alone with MS and if you have a question or a concern, or just fancy a chat, they are a great place to start.’
‘I was diagnosed with RRMS in 1990, which in 2002 led to medical retirement from a career in local Government. I later retrained as a Psychotherapist (mostly so that I could work sitting down!). I now work part-time, and when energy and time allow, I enjoy dabbling in a wide variety of crafts.
I have also been singing in a choir for the past 12 years and have performed in six Community Operas, the last two in a wheelchair although I do not use one all the time.
I have chosen to volunteer for MS-UK because I have benefited from their weekly exercise and Yoga classes enormously and have enjoyed meeting new people in other Peer Pods.
I look forward to welcoming you soon!’
