We are delighted to welcome Dr Rod Middleton, Chief Investigator at the UK MS Register, who will be delivering an information session to introduce the Register, explain how it works, and share how this valuable resource is helping shape the future of MS research and care.

Despite decades of research, many fundamental questions about MS remain unanswered. With an estimated 150,000 people living with MS in the UK, there is still an urgent need to better understand the physical, environmental, and social effects of the condition on both those diagnosed and their carers.

The UK MS Register, launched in 2011 by the Population Data Science team at Swansea University Medical School and funded by the MS Society, was created to help fill these gaps. It gathers real-world data in two keyways

Direct reporting – people with MS contribute information about their condition via simple online questionnaires.

Clinical collaboration – with consent, data from hospital medical records is securely linked to participants’ questionnaire responses.

Together, these approaches create a rich and powerful source of information, opening up new opportunities for research and providing a deeper understanding of life with MS across the UK.

By joining the MS Register, you not only contribute to vital research that will improve care and understanding of MS, but also help shape a future where support and treatment are better tailored to the needs of the MS community. Your input matters, for you, and for others.

Please join us for this important session to learn more about the MS Register, how it works, and how your participation can make a real difference.

The MS Register are keen to recruit new people on to the Register, so if you or someone you know has MS and isn’t already signed up, then please visit www.ukmsregister.org or email contact@ukmsregister.org for more information.
