Have you heard about our peer support service? Ever wanted to get involved with one of our peed pods and be part of our growing online community of MSer’s?
Join us on Monday 15 May for a chance to take a look at our peer support service which includes our weekly, fortnightly and monthly peer pods for people to come together and share experiences of multiple sclerosis (MS).
Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) is taking place 15 – 22 May 2023 and we wanted to take the opportunity to share the positives our peer pods bring to so many with MS.
We will hear from our Peer Support Coordinator Vicky Timmins who will give us an overview of all our peer pods, the feedback received from our online community and a look at which pods might be right for you. Please visit our peer support page to take a look at the range of pods we have available.
We will then welcome a few of our peer pod volunteers who host the pods for MS-UK and hear their personal stories of MS, how the pods have helped them and how our community online helps to support people living with MS.
As part of the introduction to the peer pods, we will be welcoming Lucy King from our fundraising team. Lucy will be talking about our current fundraising campaign for the Peer Support Service and how donations can make double the difference to MS-UK that week. Lucy will also be highlighting the important role fundraising plays in providing such services as the peer pods and ways to get involved with a range of fundraising campaigns.
“I am a Peer Pod volunteer host and although I have a very supportive family, the Peer Pod community has been instrumental in helping me avoid “MS isolation”. Hosting my Peer Pod has also helped me through some very challenging health problems over the last couple of years by giving me a strong sense of purpose.”
“The peer pods have provided an absolute lifeline for me personally. It has meant the world to meet others who know exactly what I’m going through and who make me feel ‘normal’. I have made a new group of friends who provide much needed support every single day and I look forward to the peer pods every week.”
“Some MS issues were causing me concern, but I was able to discuss with the group and gain advice and support. Whatever the problem, another member of the pod has been through it and can share their own experience.”
“This is an amazing service that provides vital support to people living with MS and their carers. I’ve heard so many stories of how the service is supporting people and it’s their lifeline. I’ve made so many amazing friends from attending.”
