We’re pleased to invite you to an introductory session on Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT), where we will be joined by Rebecca Doughty, trustee at Auto Immune and Multiple Sclerosis (AIMS). AIMS is a UK-based charity that supports individuals in accessing HSCT and provides guidance and encouragement throughout every stage of their treatment journey.

This session is an opportunity to deepen your understanding of how HSCT works, the medical protocols involved, and the potential this treatment offers for people living with MS.

Rebecca will share insights into the founding of AIMS, its mission, and the various types of support the organisation offers, from pre-treatment decision-making to post-treatment recovery.

Session Overview

  • Welcome and introductions
  • Overview of the autoimmune community in the UK
  • HSCT and its use across different health conditions
  • Understanding the HSCT protocol within the UK
  • The purpose and work of AIMS
  • Personal stories and experiences from the HSCT community
  • How to connect with AIMS for more support

The session will conclude with question and answers, giving you the chance to ask Rebecca any questions you may have.

If you’re unable to attend live, don’t worry, we’ll be recording the presentation and sharing it with everyone who registers in advance.

We’ve also recently updated our Choices booklet on HSCT, which offers detailed information on treatment options.

We hope you can join us for what promises to be an informative and supportive session.

About AIMS

AIMS is the UK’s first registered charity to support UK residents with autoimmune disease and Multiple Sclerosis. AIMS raises awareness, signposts patients to the relevant medical professionals, provides advice and support. The organisation also offers grants to assist with HSCT patients’ travel and expenses.

Visit the AIMS website to see how the charity helps support people seeking HSCT and for information on the treatment itself www.aimscharity.org/.

About Rebecca

Rebecca joined the board of trustees in 2024 following her own HSCT for RRMS in Sheffield. She is a mother, beekeeper and retired doctor and hopes to help AIMS grow and provide support for those exploring HSCT as a treatment option.
