Diet and nutrition is one of the most frequently requested topics to have more information on. Following on from consultation with our Virtual Insights Panel (VIP), it became evident that the issue of weight management for individuals with MS stood out as the area the community wanted to hear more about.

Join us for our information session on ‘Weight management and MS’, presented by Jenna Cox. Jenna is a registered nutritional therapist specialising in supporting individuals living with MS and has featured in our latest issues of New Pathways magazine.

You’ll learn in this session about the link between the impact of weight, disease progression and disability, as well as insights into the mechanisms behind effective weight management and why typical diets often fail. Jenna will provide practical nutrition and lifestyle advice for sustainable weight management.

The session will cover

  • Research on the impact of weight on MS disease progression and disability
  • Factors contributing to weight gain including ultra processed foods, the gut microbiome, different types of fats, hormones (e.g. thyroid hormones, insulin, cortisol, leptin) genes and movement
  • Dietary recommendations for losing, maintaining and gaining weight
  • Lifestyle recommendations

We will have time at the end for questions and answers so come prepared with anything you’d like to know more about.

Our Diet and Supplements Choices booklet provides a comprehensive review of the most popular MS diets, supplements and includes a special focus on gut microbiome.
