Drop-in peer pods

Drop-in peer pods button

Our Drop-in Peer Pods provide a safe and friendly online space for people to connect with others for conversation, companionship and mutual peer support.

There are no set themes or topics for discussion so you can speak openly and freely about anything that matters to you, whether multiple sclerosis (MS) related or not, with others that completely understand.

With several sessions running throughout the week, both daytime and evening, we aim to provide as many opportunities as possible for you to find support at a time that suits you.

Everyone is welcome, so please do pop in and say hello!

If you are interested in joining this or any of our Peer Pods, or would like more information, please fill in our enquiry form by clicking the button. Vicky, our Peer Support Coordinator will be in touch with you shortly.

Sunday Drop-in (3pm)

Meet the hosts

Sunday Peer Pod host, Rory

Rory

Hi, I’m Rory and I live in Suffolk. After four years of being treated for “Sports related injuries” I was diagnosed with Primary Progressive MS in 2014, this has since been amended to ‘Active PPMS’. I work from home on a full-time basis as an Analyst for a Financial organisation. I married my wife in 2017 after meeting in a modern way via Match.com in 2016. Between us, we have five children and four grandchildren. In my spare time, I am very heavily involved in both parkrun and junior parkrun which takes up most of my Saturday and Sunday mornings as well as some time during the week!

I am looking forward to hosting a weekend Peer Pod and bringing this fantastic community initiative to both existing and new Peer Pod participants.

Gail Sunday Peer pod host

Gail

Hi, I’m Gail and I was diagnosed with RRMS in 2022 after having frequent unexplainable falls that I couldn’t get up from, then while driving I suddenly started seeing two of everything. I managed to turn the car around and safely get home, that was the last time I ever drove

When I was diagnosed, I was just so relieved that it wasn’t a brain tumour that I decided to just accept things and view it as the next chapter of my life.

I work full time for Nottinghamshire County Council, which thanks to Covid, is mostly hybrid working and I have an amazing and supportive husband who has embraced this new stage of our lives with the grace and wisdom it needs (and I know not everyone, with or without MS is lucky enough to say that).

I love the Peer Pods, especially the Sunday Afternoon Drop-In because it gives me a chance to meet people with MS from all over the country. We don’t always talk about MS, but when we do I know that the people I’m talking to “get it”.

My aim in being a co-host is for people to leave the pod feeling better than when they came in. We have humour, we share knowledge (not just MS knowledge – I recently learnt who Olly Murs is) and it is a safe space for people to talk about the realities of life without judgement

Monday Drop-in (3pm)

Meet the host

Neil (3pm)

My name is Neil and I live in Buckinghamshire with my lovely wife Claire and we are parents to three grown up children.

I’ve lived with MS for 17 years and was encouraged by Claire to join the media Peer Pod (as it was known then) in May 2022. I hoped to discover other media interests outside of the Sports channels my TV is normally fixed on.

Not only did this achieve what I wanted but it also introduced me to a wonderful set of people from all over the UK whose circumstances and challenges are strikingly similar.

It’s now rebranded as the Monday drop-in and we talk openly about anything and everything!

Tuesday Drop-in (fortnightly at 3pm)

Meet the host

Sarah from the Tuesday drop-in Peer pod

Sarah (3pm)

Hi, I’m Sarah and I volunteered to be one of MS-UK’s Peer Supporters and host a regular online Peer Pod to help keep people living with multiple sclerosis (MS) connected.

The Tuesday Drop-in is all about keeping connected and having a good old chat, sharing experiences, asking questions or just listening and getting to know everyone.

Join me anytime between 3pm and 4pm on alternate Tuesdays with your favourite drink – hope to see you there!

Wednesday drop-in (2pm)

Meet the host

Simon, host of Wednesday Drop-in peer pod

Simon (2pm)

Hi, Simon here.

I started to volunteer for MS-UK having taken part in a number of their courses and activities. This was in my earlier few years following diagnosis, while I was still working out the ‘new me’.

Volunteering has led me to chatting to others at length as we find a way to handle the new ‘us’. The Peer Pods are a place where both practical and emotional support is given – which works both ways. I get as much out of it as those who join me. Conversations in the Wednesday Drop in pod are usually full of humour, sometimes irrelevant, but always a huge help!

Why not pop in and say hello?!
