As part of our new class format for 2026, this masterclass introduces the second focused topic that will guide our upcoming classes through March and April. It sets the foundation for understanding approaches for improving balance, preparing you for the techniques and themes we will continue to build on in future sessions.

What this masterclass covers

Do you ever feel unsteady on your feet, worry about falling, or wish you could move with more confidence? You’re not alone. Balance challenges affect up to 75% of people with MS, but the good news is that balance can be improved. Your nervous system can adapt and with the right exercises, you can make real progress.

This 45-minute masterclass is hands-on and practical. You’ll do exercises alongside the instructor, Alan Pearson, learn tools you can use immediately, understand why MS affects balance and discover evidence-based strategies that can reduce fall risk. You’ll also leave with an understanding of how to implement a home program.

This masterclass is suitable for all ability levels, whether you’re newly diagnosed, have mild balance issues, face significant mobility challenges or want to train from seated positions. Exercises are fully adaptable, with optional modifications provided so you can work safely at your own pace and ability.

Unlike most programs, this session trains all three balance systems, proprioception, visual-motor skills (using your eyes to guide movement) and vestibular function (your inner ear balance mechanism). Training all three together helps create redundancy, so if one system struggles, the others can compensate.

You’ll practice nine targeted exercises, progress from easier to more challenging moves, and receive safety tips. All you need is a sturdy chair, some clear space, a wall or counter for support, comfortable clothing, and a water bottle. You do not require any special equipment.

Research shows balance training improves confidence, reduces falls, and stimulates neuroplasticity. With consistent practice, you can move through your home more confidently, maintain independence, and feel more in control.
