November’s fundraiser of the month is Monkey Sox

We are Monkey Sox, a not-for-profit that donates 50% of annual profits between three multiple sclerosis (MS) charities, of which MS-UK are one.

In the last five years we have donated £10,000 to MS-UK and a total of £31,055 between the three charities. Our main aim is to inspire everyone to get active and raise awareness of MS through our odd socks. We are pleased to donate to MS-UK to help provide support in the here and now for people living with MS, such as funding the helpline and group exercise sessions.

We are also the official sock of MS-UK, and we have enjoyed getting to know many of their brilliant fundraisers.  Runners, cyclists and many more supporters have trained and completed challenges in team purple Monkey Sox!

Why odd socks?

We create odd but coordinated socks to represent how MS often affects the body differently left to right. Money raised is contributing to research, care and lifestyle support but not only this, our socks are made to open conversations about MS. There is nothing subtle in our colour choices for a reason! They are designed to stand out to give more spotlight to MS.

Monkey Sox are not just for a good cause, but are excellent quality, too. They are batch-made in Portugal, featuring a range of technical sports details including cushioning, compression, breathable mesh and a durable plated heel and toe.

Us founders, Lianne and James, were both born and grew up in Colchester, Essex, the home of MS-UK. This was another reason for choosing MS-UK as one of our three partner charities, aside from the great work the charity does nationally. James was diagnosed with MS in 2016 and is a doctor with a specialist interest in lifestyle medicine. Lianne is a designer.

Monkey Sox is now five years old. Our team and community have grown entirely on word of mouth, something we are very proud of. We are continuing to design more, open conversations and provide a great pair of socks (and more – we do t-shirts too!). With Christmas around the corner, why not gift with purpose and help us raise awareness for MS?
