#MSMakesMe… write poetry

How does MS make you feel? Abbie Cragg puts pen to paper about her multiple sclerosis

#MSMakesMe feel like I’m in one relentless fight,

Just with myself and no one else, but rarely there’s respite.

#MSMakesMe work so hard to make it through each day,

To stay upbeat, to soldier on, to merely feel ‘okay’.

#MSMakesMe mad when there’s no rhythm or no rhyme,

It didn’t happen yesterday, so why did it this time?

#MSMakesMe struggle through the morning, noon and night,

My brain is mush, I’ve had no sleep, I try and stay upright.

#MSMakesMe look ahead to years that seem quite bare,

I’m living in the present whilst a future is not there.

#MSMakesMe feel quite trapped, at home and in my head,

The outside world is challenging but thoughts I do more dread.

#MSMakesMe find it hard to make a solid plan,

So now I don’t, and instead try to do things when I can.

#MSMakesMe thankful I met someone when I did,

We’ve been together so long now, she surely won’t get rid?

#MSMakesMe worry there’ll be much more to endure,

So fingers crossed it won’t be long until they find a cure.

#MSMakesMe be someone I’d never choose to be,

But underneath the MS is the same determined me.
