MS-UK’s Mission50 Challenge – Our incredible journey

Lucy Woodward, Team Assistant at Virtual PA Solutions shares the fun her workplace had taking part on our brand-new fundraising challenge for businesses

Participating in MS-UK’s Mission50 Challenge was an unforgettable experience that brought our work community closer together while supporting a cause that is close to our hearts.

MS-UK is a charity both of our Directors, Mel and Zara are keen to support as it is a condition that has touched both of their lives. Zara’s sister-in-law has multiple sclerosis (MS) and Connor (Mel’s son), was diagnosed with MS when he was only 17 which was a terrible blow for the family, especially as Mel’s Dad also had it.

MS-UK, a leading charity dedicated to empowering people with MS to live healthier and happier lives, has always been at the forefront of providing much-needed support and resources. Taking part in their Mission 50 Challenge allowed us to contribute to their mission in a meaningful way.

The Mission50 Challenge gives you £50, and you are tasked to use it to make as much money for the charity as you can in 50 days – simple!

One of the highlights of our participation was the pier to pier walk. We gathered early in the morning, laced up our walking shoes, and set off on a scenic route along the coastline. As we walked from one pier to another, we had the opportunity to reflect on the resilience of those living with MS and the importance of supporting them through charities like MS-UK.

In addition to the pier to pier walk, we decided to incorporate a sustainable fundraising initiative by selling clothes on Vinted. Our team members cleaned out their wardrobe, donated their items, and listed them for sale on the popular platform.

Not only did this help us raise funds for MS-UK, but it also promoted the idea of recycling and reusing, contributing to environmental sustainability. Every purchase made on Vinted brought us closer to our fundraising goal and spread awareness about MS-UK’s vital work.

Our workplace also got involved in the Mission50 Challenge through dress down donations. On designated days, employees could dress casually in exchange for a donation to MS-UK.

Mission50 raffle prizes

Finally, to cap off our fundraising efforts, we organised a raffle with exciting prizes generously donated by local businesses and individuals. The raffle tickets were quickly sold, and the anticipation built as the draw date approached. The raffle not only raised significant funds but also created a buzz around our Mission50 Challenge activities. The lucky winners were thrilled with their prizes, and everyone who participated felt proud to be supporting MS-UK. With help from all the team we managed to raise an incredible £2,000 in under 50 days!

Mission50 runs all year round, so if you would like to bring your team together to make a real difference to a charity like MS-UK, click here to sign up, or call Jill on 01206 226500 or email jill@ms-uk.org.
