Julie and Pip’s Big Purple Dog Walk story

Taking part in the 2025 Big Purple Dog Walk gave me alongside Chris and Pip the opportunity to challenge ourselves by completing a different walk for each day in March. It was amazing how many variations we found. I walked with friends locally and on weekend breaks away.

I enjoyed raising awareness about MS-UK by talking to as many people as possible – Pip’s purple bandana was a great conversation opener (It washed well too!). I also asked local businesses and coffee shops to display a poster.

I like to talk and a little pause on a walk for a brew is always welcome. Chris jokes my multiple sclerosis (MS) costs him a fortune in coffee. I was shocked when Pip won the prize for raising awareness. If anyone says he’s a good boy he goes and sits looking at his prize treat jar .

I didn’t set myself an huge target in but was chuffed when we raised over £260. It was a no-brainer to register to take part 2026 Big Purple Dog Walk. Whilst I can’t walk as far as I used to, going for a walk with an added purpose is good for my wellbeing. Last year I walked 100 miles, and Pip walked/ran probably three times that. He had just turned one so this year he is preparing himself by chilling.
